Kochi: Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM)-incubated Industries 5.0 startup Venttup has raised $3 million (over Rs 28 crore) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter by Zerodha and Unicorn India Ventures.

The funding will support Venttup’s expansion across the renewable energy, defence, aerospace and space sectors.

The company plans to use the capital to take projects from engineering design and development through validation and into large-scale production.

Sandeep Nair, co-founder and CEO of Venttup, said the company is building an engineering-led manufacturing model in partnership with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The funds will be used to expand Venttup’s engineering team in Kochi and establish a precision manufacturing facility and rapid prototyping infrastructure at the High-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park in Bengaluru, Nair said.

Venttup will also invest in technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve B2B sourcing, supplier intelligence and operational efficiency, Nair said.

The company’s mission, ‘India for India, India for the World’, is aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities while positioning India as a reliable manufacturing partner for global markets.

    Expanding Engineering and Manufacturing Capabilities

Venttup was founded by industry veterans Sandeep Nair (Co-Founder & CEO), M. Wasim Ankli (Co-Founder & COO), and Joseph Panakkal (Co-Founder & CMO). The founders have extensive experience at Hitachi Energy, Siemens, L&T, and Kalpataru Power.

The company has recorded a five-fold increase in revenue since its seed funding round in 2024, reaching Rs 10 crore in FY 2025-26.

Over the past 12 months, Venttup has added more than 15 blue-chip companies to its customer base and built a business opportunity pipeline of approximately Rs 30 crore across new energy, mobility and smart infrastructure.

According to the company, this traction reflects growing demand for domestic component development, localisation and dependable manufacturing execution.

    Focus on Four Strategic Areas

Venttup is focusing on four strategic areas: energy transition and data centres; aerospace, defence and space systems; smart infrastructure and future mobility; and electronics, automation and smart manufacturing.

The company aims to support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and emerging technology businesses through engineering development, rapid prototyping and precision manufacturing.

With the latest funding, Venttup plans to strengthen its engineering capabilities while expanding its manufacturing and prototyping infrastructure. The company will also deploy technology and AI across B2B sourcing, supplier intelligence and operational efficiency.

Rainmatter, Unicorn India Ventures back expansion

Rainmatter by Zerodha and Unicorn India Ventures said Venttup’s expansion would help address the need for reliable supply chains among India’s deep-tech and hardware startups and manufacturing companies.

The funding round will enable Venttup to expand its presence across renewable energy, defence, aerospace and space while developing capabilities spanning engineering design, development, validation and large-scale production.

The company’s focus on MSME partnerships, domestic component development and localisation forms part of its broader manufacturing approach under its mission, ‘India for India, India for the World’.
